Laprica Academy was founded in 2021 by Nargis Rahimi, a mother of three, passionate Public Health Specialist from the Karolinska Institute, co-founder of the Shifo Foundation, and a member of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts at the World Health Organization.
After more than 15 years of working with health professionals, Ministries of Health and Education, research institutions, and NGOs across multiple countries, one truth became undeniable: nothing can replace the powerful and unique role of parents and caregivers in a child’s wellbeing, development, and in society’s prosperity.
In 2019, Nargis began a personal research journey, searching for evidence-based tools to help in her parenting. What began as a search for answers for her own family became a profound transformation, revealing what truly helps children and parents thrive.
As she shared her insights, Nargis heard the quiet struggles of parents and caregivers everywhere: parents and caregivers doing their best, yet feeling overwhelmed, unsupported, and longing for practical guidance to bring out their best selves at home, at work, and in their communities. She realized that there are no good or bad parents, only those who have the right knowledge and tools, and those who have not yet been given them.
Her vision is to make Laprica’s knowledge and tools available to parents everywhere, regardless of their socio-economic situation. To achieve this, Laprica collaborates with partners around the world to make parenting education accessible and affordable. Laprica adjusts and subsidizes the cost based on parent’s ability to pay, ensuring that support reaches every family.
